Overview
To plan, provide, manage, operate and maintain infrastructure services provisioning in order to ensure the rendering of sustainable and affordable services to the community.
The Infrastructure Services Department aspires to be a value-adding department when it comes to providing services such as: Upgrading, construction and maintenance of road and stormwater infrastructure; maintenance and cleaning of sidewalks; provision of street cleaning services; upgrading and maintenance of water and sewerage networks; planning and upgrading of bulk infrastructure projects; upgrading and maintenance of electricity networks, provision of refuse removal services. The Department is also responsible for upgrading and managing waste sites/landfill sites within the Karoo Hoogland Municipal Area. The Department manages the implementation of all capital projects approved on an annual basis by Council.
This Department oversees and ensures the following services:
- Provision of potable water supply systems;
- Bulk supply of electricity, which includes for the purposes of such supply, the transmission, distribution and the generation of electricity ;
- Provision of bulk sewage purification works and main sewage disposal systems;
- Solid waste disposal sites/landfill sites, insofar as it relates to:
i. the determination of a waste disposal strategy;
ii. the regulation of waste disposal;
iii. the establishment, operation and control of waste disposal sites, bulk waste transfer facilities and waste disposal facilities; - Municipal roads/streets which form an integral part of a road transport system
- Water and sewage purification and reticulation
- Vehicle maintenance
- Storm water and construction
- Infrastructure projects
- EPWP projects and administration
